*random passer-by* I barely know this canon (just enough overall Star Wars to recognise the craft names) and am very impressed, first of all at the way the story conveys the droid viewpoint -- and conversational noises! -- and secondly by the way that I found myself actually delighted and relieved when the prefigured disaster doesn't actually happen. One of the advantages of *not* knowing the canon context, of course -- I had no idea whether they were going to get out of it or not, and Janson is assuming the worst -- but the fact that I ended up caring about the fate of characters I don't know at all and whom I hadn't even 'met' within the story itself is a considerable achievement...
