More completionist grinding on Animal Crossing New Horizons today. You're supposed to be able to trade with friends for items you want, but the lack of game-stable wifi is preventing me. I know I'm stubborn enough to keep going by myself, it's just... tiring.

June 4, 2000: Beau is making a "zen-style stone", a Japanese gravestone, which would be great if I didn't already know how to build it. I'm thinking about moving Cephalobot in instead of Beau, since I have another lazy villager (Sasha, an adorable aqua rabbit) and another smug amiibo (Raymond, a gray cat with heterochromia who was *the* holy grail for many players when the game first came out, I don't especially care for him but Leia had a duplicate card and I'm not sneezing at free amiibo cards) to use for the campsite. That way I'd have a 20% chance for the crafting villager to be a smug personality instead of my current 10% chance since only one of my ten current villagers is smug (Lopez, a deer styled like some sort of antelope).

The beach bottle is a "cardboard table" DIY, which I already have.

Dude, I caught a banded dragonfly! That's fucking rare. I haven't been focusing on farming the bugs and fish to donate to the museum, but it's always nice to get one that was likely to be a pain in the ass.

(Being a fictional museum in a video game, it displays the bugs live and flying around in open habitats instead of pinned on cards, which is pretty cool.)

I have K.K. Rally already, and Cephalobot wants a decoy duck again. In order to move an amiibo villager onto your island, you have to invite them and gift them the craftable item they request on three different days. You can only have ten villagers on your island, so you have to pick one to kick out, which is why I'm thinking of kicking Beau.

You do also get a gift in exchange, and Cephalobot gave me a straw boater hat which I didn't have before, so that's nice.

At Able's:
- Woo, botanical shorts! I don't know that I'll ever wear them but they're so specific and memorable.

That's all at Able's today, but it was a Sunday, so their weekly stock will refresh tomorrow. There's a shopping island that also refreshes on Monday mornings, so I may as well check this week's stock today as well. I still need plenty of stuff from Kicks the skunk and Saharah the camel.

No, Harv, I am not doing wedding season this year. I grinded that out already and got every item in every color, and now I can ignore the only romance storyline in the game forevermore.

Saharah doesn't have anything I need, but Kicks has the last color of kiddie sneakers I need (green). That's worth the time it took to check.

June 5, 2000: Sasha's making a bone doorplate, which I already have. The beach bottle has a foxtail, which I also already have. Cephalobot wants a decayed tree, which is another of the items my smug campsite villagers have seemed to be fixated on lately, so I'll give him that. And he gave me another color of straw boater! Very nice.

At Able's:
- Woo, meme shirt! This is a T-shirt with an old LOLcat image of a cat shooting lasers from its eyes, on four different-colored galaxy-pattern backgrounds, and I've been missing it so much.
- And the skull tee! This one has sort of a metal-band-style logo with a skull in a fancy frame, I'm sure it's referencing a specific band shirt I'm not musical enough to get.
- And water sandals!

May as well check Saharah and Kicks on Monday this week so I don't forget.
- Saharah has an oval entrance mat, which is like a little braided rug style, I've never used it but I like it. I haven't decorated a lot of rooms until I have all the items and DIYs I want.
- Kicks doesn't have anything I need in the color I need. He sells socks, shoes, and bags, so none of them can be customized either, and nor can Saharah's rugs. At least they have these shops now, introduced in the 2.0 update, so that makes it easier to grind for them.

June 6, 2000: Agnes the pig is making a gear apparatus, which I already have. Agnes's personality is hard to translate from the Japanese... there are eight personalities the anthro animal villagers can have, four for the male villagers and four for female. Male villagers can be "cranky", which is sort of grumpy-old-man coded; "lazy", which comes across as a young boy, mainly interested in snacks and bugs; "smug", which is an aspiring celebrity personality; or "jock", which as the name suggests is mainly focused on sports and working out.

(They all have dialogue based on their personalities; for instance, Dom the jock sheep asked me earlier which of my muscle groups I wanted to work on, and when I picked my deltoids he said that because shoulder muscles are important for lifting, that means I like lifting up my friends and encouraging them, which I thought was adorable. If you have too many of the same personality type it can get repetitive -- the game definitely wants you to have all eight personalities represented.)

Female villagers can be "normal", which likes reading and cooking; "snooty", which likes fashion and elegance; "peppy", an aspiring pop star who calls you her bestie (look, do you understand how weirdly healing it is to have the popular girl call me bestie, even if she is a fictional flamingo); or "uchi" in Japanese, which is a personal pronoun used by a subculture of girls that I know I probably don't understand well enough to explain it clearly. This personality is usually translated as "sisterly" or "big sister" in English references; the villagers are styled sort of punky and butch in appearance, and their dialogue focuses mostly on having been tough/rebellious in their youth. I tend to think of it as the "butch" personality, but saying that without explanation makes it sound like they're intended to be queer, which is... unlikely.

Anyway, I have two uchi villagers on my island, Fuchsia the hot-pink deer with ear cartilage piercings, and Agnes the black and white pig. (Fuchsia is possibly my favorite villager design visually out of all 413 available villagers.)

The beach bottle DIY is the golden casket, which I already have. Cephalobot wants a wooden low table again; he should ask to move in once I give it to him. Yup, there we go! I choose Beau to move out, and Beau is now all packed up to leave. Cephalobot also gave me a blossom tee in blue, which I actually needed as well.

Able's has pineapple aloha shorts! That's everything they have that I need, so that's three more days done. I'm hungry, so I'm going to wrap up for now.
