I had a similar reaction, which is also why I never blogged about it! (Okay, I found two things scary - one was the setup with hoarder grandma's house, because that was too true to life, and one was the general idea of being alone on an isolated place at night with unidentifiable noises. But none of the supernatural parts were scary.)
Then I read the whole Machen collection and rooted for the "monsters", because *Jesus fuck* the things his "good guys" did to women. The white people was one of the better ones.
I liked The Twisted Ones anyway though! I'm pretty used to not being scared by the "right" parts of horror.
