Looking at the plot synopses on Wookieepedia, there's a bunch of other things I recognise (including a couple I'd misremembered as being in the Thrawn trilogy, and was vaguely surprised weren't there when I re-read it recently). And the publication dates explain why this was what I tried next after the Thrawn trilogy -- and the fact that it was Kevin J. Anderson explains why I didn't try anything else after that. Although apparently I did make it through the entire trilogy; I had a significantly higher tolerance for Kevin J. Anderson when I was a teenager and I hadn't yet learned the arcane skill of giving up on a series partway through.
