Lyrics meme from Pedanther:
1. Open up your music player. Hit shuffle.
2. Record the first few lines of the first thirty pieces of music that come up, with the title, if it appears, redacted. Skip instrumentals, but don't skip the embarrassing ones.
3. Make hapless internet denizens guess the song names and artists. Google is cheating. For musical songs, the name of the musical is acceptable in place of the artist. Leeway is also given for traditional ballads, jazz standards, etc.
Under a cut!

I'm noticing a theme here, if not in your collection then at least in the parts that I'm capable of recognising.

Date: 2019-11-24 12:57 am (UTC)All the others are correct. I'm almost wondering if your "bonus round" was Old Time Religion - the cover I have is a delightful Pete Seeger piece that goes on "We will pray with Aphrodite / She wears that see-through nightie", which seems like you might have it in your collection given the overlapping parts of our music taste. ^_^
(This is a good cross section of my music collection, really. Traditional, show tunes, a bit of 1960s popular rock. There's a JRRT spoken word piece in there you missed, too.)

Date: 2019-11-24 02:15 am (UTC)I know "Old Time Religion" entirely through verses added by various people referencing older religions; I don't think I've ever heard it performed completely straight. One of my favourites, because I have a fondness for over-elaborate rhymes, goes something like:
Let us pray to Quetzalcoatl
With him, victory is toatl
(Well, the proof is anecdoatl,
But it's good enough for me!)

8. The Star of the County Down! My version's by Irish Descendants but it's traditional.
9. It's the goodbye song from Sound of Music! The title might be So Long, Farewell? It's the one with all the kids going to bed.
13. That's Raffi but I don't know which one. I hear his voice singing it though.
16. I Am The One Who Will Remember Everything, Dar Williams. Did I give you this CD? (also it's boot)
25. Shake My Sillies Out, also definitely Raffi.
Unrelated, but Surfin USA has my hometown in it! Redondo Beach fuck yeah.
