nuzlocke notes

thedarlingone* I have named my Turtwig A'Tuin on the suggestion of my friend TabbieWolf.
* Route 201: Caught a Starly (male). Coming up with the nicknames is the hardest part. Tabbie suggested doing Discworld theme names, so I named it Errol because that was the first male flying creature name that came to mind.
* Route 202: Met another Starly, but with the duplicates clause I'm not catching more than one, so I knocked it out and met a Shinx instead! That's hopefully going to be really useful, Electric is a handy type to have around. It's a female Shinx, so I'm naming her Angua. Angua and A'Tuin also both have natures raising their physical attack, which could be good. (Everybody has defense or special defense down, which is probably unhelpful for a nuzlocke, but we'll see.)
* For once I'm skipping optional trainer battles, at least until I have a full team, rather than clearing every area as I go. I'm not setting myself a level cap like some nuzlocke rules do, because I don't consider myself that kind of a pokemon expert, but I'm also not trying to grind up to level a million or so... yet. I probably will when I'm procrastinating on the Elite Four, if I get that far.
* Route 218: Acquired the Old Rod and got a Magikarp (the only thing you can catch with the Old Rod). This is a female Magikarp, so I named her Sibyl, keeping up the Discworld names theme for now until I run out of ideas.
* Route 203: Barry nearly kicked my ass, but I got out without losing any party members (or even having to use any Potions, although I did eventually remember potions exist) and caught an Abra, which is tricky because if you hit it or it breaks out of the pokeball it will immediately flee, so all you can do is throw one pokeball and hope. Anyway, I named it Vetinari because I'm running out of ideas. (Tabbie mentioned that her theme ideas usually only last about a dozen names.)
* Route 204: I jumped into the very beginning just to get a sixth party member before doing some grinding, and wound up with a Kricketot. It's a female, but I named it Nobby anyway because it's small and peculiar looking.
Now I'm going to grind until everybody is at least level 10, because Barry was level 9 and nearly kicked my ass, and I'm pretty sure Roark is level 12 at least.
